Old World Elegance
Marble, granite, limestone, glass tiles, and custom-glazed cabinetry—all in soft earth tones. The concept for this master bath is purely European elegance.
The transformation began by gutting the 1980s master bathroom and creating a new floor plan that addressed our clients' current needs...more storage, dual sinks, a new spa-like shower, a whirlpool tub, and a spacious linen closet.
We added interior architectural elements to this angular room. To soften the space and enhance the European detailing, we added arches over the whirlpool tub and mirror, along with faux-finished corbels.
Sunlight filters into the shower through cut-outs in the wall. Natural limestone, with glass mosaic accents, adorns the shower walls. A programmable shower system gives the client a spa-like experience.
In keeping with the classic details, custom moldings were selected for the crown, the new full-length mirror, and the applied panels.
Faucets and fixtures with simple, clean lines contrast the detailing seen in the molding and corbels.
For the bath's one window, we designed a custom shutter with top louvers to let in natural light and solid lower panels to protect privacy.
Lighting design played an important role in this space. The lighting plan includes recessed lighting, task lighting by the sinks, and decorative sconces. All light fixtures are on dimmers and individual switches to allow a combination of lighting as needed.
